The Text Instruction is the most commonly used Instruction type. This Instruction type is used for scripting information, instructions, and actions to be performed to end-users. For new content, a Text Instruction is created by default. To create a Text Instruction, you must be working in the Add/Edit Instruction window.
1.Click the New tab.
2.Select Text.
1.Enter text in the Edit Pane. 2.Select the text, and then click Default in the Templates gallery on the ribbon. 3.In the Formatting group on the ribbon, select the appropriate Font Style and Font Size. 4.Click the dialog box launcher in the Templates group. 5.Click Update Template. |
Text Templates are used to facilitate formatting of Instruction text. Text Templates work similarly to character styles in Microsoft Word. Some examples of Text Templates that you may want to create include: •Content Titles •Instruction Headings/Tasks (titled "Task" in the ribbon graphic above), such as Task numbers for assessments •Commands/Features/Functions/Application Names (titled "Terms" in the ribbon graphic above), or other consistently used formatting combinations •Events/User Actions. How do you want to distinguish or identify WHEN/WHAT a user is supposed to perform an action vs. explanation text 1.Select and format text. 2.Click the dialog box launcher in the Templates group. 3.Click New Template. 4.Name and save the Template. Templates are local to the Live Content installation, but can be exported and shared with other Live Content authors. 5.Document the Text Templates you create in your Standards document in the event you need to re-create them for any reason. |
It is a good idea to export your Text Templates to a network drive for the following purposes: •Backup in case the computer crashes •Changing computers where you need to move the Live Content Studio installation (and license key) •Sharing with other Live Content authors Once you finish creating the Templates you need: 1.Click the dialog box launcher in the Templates group. 2.Click Export Templates. 3.Navigate to an appropriate network location, name the file, and then click Save. |
To import Text Templates: 1.Click the dialog box launcher in the Templates group. 2.Click Import Templates. 3.Navigate to the appropriate network location, and then click Open. |
While many of the options in the Formatting group on the ribbon are familiar (and work the same way as in Microsoft applications), several options are unique to Live Content Studio Instructions.
