Managing Learning Path Courses

Courses can be added to a Learning Path after completing the Detail page.

TPArrowYou should use caution when adding Courses to a Learning Path after it has been assigned to users. See the Consquences of Modifying Learning Paths topic for more information.

Before adding Courses, set the Learning Path completion rules.

1.Click the Path Completes When All Required Courses Are arrow to select the Status conditions by which the Learning Path will be considered Complete for each user. There are two options:

•Finished, Passed, Failed or Waived

•Finished, Passed or Waived

2.Select one of the following options.

•None Neither a specified Order nor Equivalence settings will be applied to courses in the Path.

•Select the Courses must be completed in order radio button.

TPArrowWhen this option is selected, the user will only be able to retake any already completed Courses (with remaining attempts) or the first incomplete or non-taken Course in the Path. Courses must be taken in order allows you to define the exact order in which courses must be completed to qualify for path completion. Courses taken previously will not be considered unless they were completed in the order defined in this path, even if Include Previous History is enabled.

•Select the Use Equivalence radio button.

TPArrowWhen this option is selected, each folder created in the path is eligible to be marked as an equivalence for other equivalence folders.

The Courses tab allows you to create a Folder structure to group Courses for users, add Courses, and Delete Courses from the current Learning Path.

Before adding Courses to a Learning Path, you may choose to build a Folder structure that will help users identify groups of like topics or groups of Courses or resources. Folders are not required, but do offer the user a visual breakdown of the Courses assigned to the Learning Path.

If one or more Folders exist, select the appropriate Folder first. Selecting an existing Folder and then completing steps 1 and 2 will create a sub-folder.

2.Click Add Folder, enter the Folder name, and then press Save Button.

3.To add additional folders, complete steps 1 and 2.

4.Folders can be moved or reordered by dragging and dropping them to the location of your choice.

1.Select a Folder, if applicable. Any Courses added will be placed in the selected Folder. If Folders do not exist, the Courses will display in a list on the Learning Path.

2.Click the Add Course Add Record icon.

3.Search for Courses using the Course Selector window.

a.Free text search allows you to enter text that is included in the Course Name or that has been included as a Keyword.

b.Click the Show filter Expand icon icon to display relevant Course fields by which to filter the Search Result.

c.Click Search Icon to execute the search using the defined criteria.

ProdTip Productivity Tip

When searching for Courses, you can search and select Courses based on differing criteria without closing the Search window.

Example:If you wanted to search for a Course that includes the word Save and a Course that includes the word Shortcut, you could:

1.In the Free text search field, type:  Save.

2.Click Search Icon.

3.Then select the appropriate Course.

With the window still displayed:

1.In the Free text search field, type:  Shortcut.

2.Click Search Icon.

3.Then select the appropriate Course.

The previous selection will remain in the Results display. This method can be used with any of the Selector windows and criteria fields in the LMS.

4.Select the Courses to be added, and then click Select Button.

5.Courses can be moved or reordered by selecting the Course and dragging it to the location or Folder of your choice.

6.Click Save Button.

For each Course, you can:

1.Select the check box to the left of the Course name.

2.Click the Edit Edit Record icon.

3.Edit the Course Options that would have been set as defaults, based on the Learning Path setup.

a.Number of Attempts:  The number of attempts defaults to the value originally set on the Learning Path Detail tab. If required, change the value for the selected Course.

b.Pass Mark:  The Pass Mark defaults to the percentage set from the Learning Path Detail tab. Enter -1 to accept the percentage set in the Course as it was published, or set a different percentage to override the passing score for the selected Course.
